Covidom: A home-based telemonitoring solution for Covid-19 patients and suspected carriers, co-constructed by AP-HP and Nouveal e-santé
AP-HP and Nouveal e-santé have produced an e-healthcare application designed to monitor patients in the home who are suffering from or are suspected carriers of Covid-19 and who do not require hospitalization.
Covidom is an e-healthcare application that enables Covid-19 patients and suspected carriers without serious symptoms to benefit from home-based telemonitoring via medical questionnaires offered once or twice a day, supplementing self-isolation.
In practice :
- The doctor adds the patient to the process (connection to the platform, patient registration by entering their administrative and relevant medical dat
- The patient completes a simple daily questionnaire online from a PC or the application available from the main stores. The frequency of the questionnaire may vary in line with the risk stratification and duration ;
- Depending on the answers to the questionnaire, alerts may be generated. Whenever necessary, for example in the case of high fever or significant respiratory difficulties notified by the patient, the care team will be alerted and contacts the patient in order to possibly adapt the monitoring and treatment. A medical telemonitoring center has been operational since March 12 to monitor the alerts from all patients participating in Covidom.
- In the event of a pressing emergency, the patient is asked to call 15 (medical emergency).
Operational since March 9 2020, and deployed at the hospitals of Bichat and Pitié-Salpêtrière, the two Covid-19 reference healthcare centers of the AP-HP hospital group, use of the Covidom application is becoming more widespread, initially within AP-HP, in order to monitor all patients treated by the group. The tool represents a bespoke response which will also feed into current developments designed to support patient care.
The objective is to provide telemonitoring for patients not requiring hospitalization yet without placing an excessive burden on healthcare establishments and general practitioners, enabling them to concentrate on patients requiring direct care.
Covidom is available free of charge from AppStore and Google Play
